I love throwing the girls a birthday party, picking out the theme, ordering the decorations and just watching them enjoy every second. We've had some amazing themes over the years, my favourite being Mickey Mouse Club House. Where I spent a very long time trying to create party invites, party food labels and a door sign.

I have to be honest though, when it comes to designing, my skills are lacking. Add that to the frustrating programme I was using and I ending up paying for someone else to do it for me. This year however I'd really like to have another go at trying it myself, so when Adobe let me know about their design software called Adobe Spark, I headed over to take a look.

What Adobe Spark Says...

My experience with Adobe Spark

I've used Adobe Spark a lot now, I have to say there are a few features that I'm especially absolutely in-love with. As I mentioned, design isn't a gift I was born with. I know how I want things to look, but with my terrible choices of colours they never really turn out that way. However Adobe Spark has a solution to this, which took my designs to the next level.

On the right hand side of the page, there are different colour pallets available. Adobe Spark also recommends colours that will work with your design. This great feature stopped me from chucking 20 different colours in to my party invite and instead left me with an invite that looks like it has been professionally designed.

Another great feature that I really love is the templates that are available. I especially loved the unicorn themed party invite templates that are on offer. You can take each template, edit it and add any details you need. You can still change colours, fonts and the whole design if you really want, but it's a great place to start off if, like me, you would be lost with a plain slate in-front of you.

Designing From Scratch

After using these, my design confidence has boomed so I decided to have a go at creating a design completely from scratch! (Eek! I know!) I selected the A5 design and Adobe Spark prompted me to add pictures in. Something I love is that there is a huge library full of stock images ready, so I didn't have to spend ages searching, I just put in 'birthday' and I got everything I wanted.



Moving on to the next step I was presented with a photo grid and a text box where I could my text and change the colours (using those recommended colours again!) A few quick changes and I was left with a perfect two sided invite. The front was full of eye catching images, the back full of the information. (So one side for the kid and one for the parent!) I even mocked up another for Kairi and popped a picture of the girls on that too. It was so easy!



I'm really enjoying Adobe Spark, it's so easy to make the perfect birthday party invite, even with no skills. The designs download fast and there are so many great features that I can create anything I like. My next idea is to have a go at creating some eye catching blog designs and a photo collage for the girls bedroom wall. (Wait for this post after our Disney trip!)
