What to buy a 4-year old for Christmas

It really seams like the older the girls get, the more pink is forced into their lives. If you take a look at my 'What to buy a 2-year old for Christmas' you'll see I managed to do the whole list without any pink (though you could choose some in pink if you wanted too), so let's see how the 'What to buy a 4-year old for Christmas' list goes!

As a mum I want my children to learn, explore and not be defined by gender stereotypes, but when I'm in need of idea, I can't find anywhere non-pink to go! So this is my list of amazing and 'not always pink' gifts. *This post contains affiliate links*

What to buy a 4-year old for Christmas

Amazon Echo Dot (Alexa)

When we first decided to purchase Alexa, my husband worried that she would just be used for 5 minutes and then forgotten about. To be fair to him, that worry was slightly on my mind, but I was sure she would also be a great tool. We've had the Dot in our house for 6 months now and Alexa is still truly used every single day. We ask her questions use the kids play features and play songs through her to help tidy up faster!

Lego

Lego, all the lego! These lego sets are perfect for 4 year olds. at 4 Kairi is just ready to start playing with lego and these sets full of random piece lets her get used to it and enjoy it rather than spending ages frustrated trying to make a model.

Orchard Toys Board Games

We love these Orchard Toys board games! They are perfect fun which is actually enjoyable for ALL the family! We have about 30 games now (many I've found in the charity shop) but one of my favourite parts is how amazing the company is! If you love parts or they break, they will replace them for you (I think it's 5 free a year) so you can keep playing year after year.

Sand Toys

Kairi loves these Melissa & Doug ice cream sand toys. They're simple but full of plenty of hours play. Melissa & Doug is such a great brand and we've brought many of their products from the girls, from toy 'kitchen' equipment to beading.

Mini Green House

This set is so cute, it comes with seed for a few different plants including a sunflower and cress. The little green house is a little bit fiddly to put together at first, but once you've got it right it's so much fun and great to watch your new garden grow.

Butterfly Kit

We've done this butterfly kit a few times now and each experience has been amazing. With this kit you get a voucher to have your caterpillars sent to you (once it's slightly warmer and they can survive), you then watch them as they eat all their food up, grow big and finally go into their cocoons at the very top of your net. A few days later you get to watch the amazing butterflies hatch and finally hold them before they fly away. It's such a magical journey and one thats perfect for a 4 year old who is learning about the world around her.

Keyboard Decals

A bit of a strange one, but as Kairi was learning how to read, write and type at 4 years old, these rainbow keyboard stickers were really handy. The letters are shown in their lower case form which was perfect for 'kuh-ah-tuh' when spelling cat!

Eye Spy Books

We became addicted to these books after out amazing friend brought the girls one each. I've written about them before, but the books are perfect for kids who love to play eye spy or kids you just need to keep busy on a journey. Even better they're really cheap so a perfect stocking filler (or gift to a friends child on their birthday/Christmas).

Science Kits

Okay, so this one looks pink, but there are plenty that are not. Kairi loves her science experiments and making her own makeup, so these sets are perfect for experimenting 4 year olds!
