What to buy a 2-year old for Christmas
Trawling through Pinterest I notice that every gift guide for girls is basically pink, purple or unicorn! As a mum I want my children to learn, explore and not be defined by gender stereotypes, but when I'm in need of idea, I can't find anywhere non-pink to go! So this is my list of amazing and 'not always pink' gifts. *This post contains affiliate links*
What to buy a 2-year old for Christmas
Grimms Rainbow
I love imagination toys and the Grimms Rainbow is perfect for just that. Naminé can often be found turning her rainbow into a ride for her dolls or even animal pens for a make believe zoo.
Moluk Bilibo
Another amazing imaginary toy is the Moluk Bilibo. 'What is it?' you ask. Well, we don't actually know! But what I can tell you is Naminé loves it (and Kairi secretly does too) The girls call it the 'Turtle' and have used it to stand on, spin in, attach the dogs lead to for a sled or wagon, it amazes me every day what they come up with.
Counting Bears
I love these counting bears, we use them for counting, colour sorting and a whole range of other games. Naminé recently put them into a jug of water and pretended that they are ice cubes.
Duplo
Duplo is such a great toy. You can follow the instructions or create your own ideas. It's also a fantastic gift that you can build on year after year, so when you are stuck for a 3rd birthday gift, you can start growing their collection.
Aqua Play Lock Box
Aqua play is so much fun (though I recommend putting it outside for ease of emptying - believe me!) The great thing about the lock box is it can be folded up and taken with you, storing all the bits inside. The other great thing about the Aqua Play Lock Box is that you can build upon it. There are different parts with more boats, cars and moats which can be attached to each other to make a whole new water world, making aqua box perfect for any space.
Dressing Up Cabinet
So we don't have this exact dressing up cabinet, but having a cabinet has been so great for us. Yes, they do pull all the clothes off the hangers, but it doesn't take long to put them back up again and the face they can play and grab shoes, clothes and hats whenever they want is great.
Tuff Tray and Stand
Tuff trays are so much fun (although they don't contain the mess!) and this tuff tray with the stand is just perfect. The height can change so we Naminé can use it at 2 and still at 7 and we can use it to do a variety of activities including messy play, scenes and cooking.
Ergo Baby Doll Carrier
I don't know about your little one, but Naminé loves to play with her 'babies' everywhere. However waiting for her to push a buggy to the shops seams like an endless hell! This Ergo Baby Doll Carrier is the solution to my problem, now Naminé can carry her baby to the shops and not push a buggy into every dip on the road. (You can thank me later!)
Foam Floor Mats
These foam floor mats are perfect for coving up horrible old carpet! But they are also great for learning letters, numbers and building fun dens. In the summer we can take them outside and pop them under the paddling pool for a much comfier pool floor.
Bean Bag
A simple one but Naminé has used her bean bag so much! I'd advise finding one with a cover that can be easily removed and washed but a comfy seat or a space to relax with a book is a great gift for a little one who loves to take some time and relax. (Who am I kidding, it makes a great dolls bed!)
So that is my top gift ideas for a 2 year old at Christmas. If you want more products that we love, you can head over and find out more. I'd love to know what you are buying and any other ideas that you have, let me know below and an exciting Merry Christmas to you!
