Beaker Creatures by Learning Resources

by - 06:00:00

A few weeks ago the girls were watching their favourite YouTube show, Lucky Penny Shop. The guy (LPS Dave) was testing out the new Beaker Creatures set by Learning Resources. Of course they were watching the TV saying, 'mum can we get one?', 'mum it looks so much fun'.

As a parent, Learning Resources is one of my most favourite brands. I love how their resources are so much fun with have plenty of learning behind them too (even if they are used alone!) So when I received an email asking if I would love to review Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab, Beaker Creatures Magnification Chamber and Beaker Creatures 2-pack with Bio Home of course I said yes!

As soon as the sets arrived, the girls had to get them straight out of the box and have a play.

First up was the Liquid Reactor Super Lab, the set they were waiting for! This set comes with the lab, 2 creature pods, tongs, a stiring stick, creature identification cards and beakers. I love that this set has multiple experiments including the favourite, Slime! I love this 'main' set, it's perfect for a main gift for your child and home educators.

The second set we opened was the Magnification Chamber, this set is a perfect birthday gift for family and close friends. It comes with 2 creature pods, creature identification cards and the magnification chamber, so theres lots of fun to be had.

The final set we opened was the 2-pack with bio home. This cute set is the perfect birthday gift for all those parties your kids get invited to at school. It comes with 1 creature, 1 creature pod, creature identification cards and the bio home.

Each set also comes . with great fact sheets to help you learn all about your creatures environment. We set up the liquid reactor super lab within a few minutes. It was super simple and quick to do, which meant the girks could get straight into playing and experimenting.

We started off with 2 experiemenrts, the first was getting the creature put of his pod and the second was the same, but using coloured water to see what happened when the colours mixed. Great primary colour learning!

The girls quickly got to work on finding their first creature. Now the set does come with it's own drip tray, but from what I'd seen on LPS, it was very messy, so we grabbed the tuff tray (as I was glad we did!) Each set is for children aged 5+, however Naminé is 3 and totally loved it, she just needed extra support when pushing the plungers down.

You can see from her face in this picture that she had a fantastic time!

Each of the 'creature pods' comes in a colour that relates to it's species which is great for those who love to collect them all and with a rang of other experiments to do, it's a great toy to be used over and over again.

We continued to play with the sets, identifying the creatures and then going on to learning all about where they lived etc. It was great to see the girls using their imagination and talking about habitats, what the creatures would eat and diving deeper into a few topics.

I love the large set because it's a great activity all 3 of us can enjoy and the 2 smaller sets mean that the girls can take their creature and play together identifying them and making their would. I've planned some fun follow up play for next week to where we are going to design the creatures habitats and see if we can make a weekly diet for them (either by collecting foliage or drawing pictures). I can see how these amazing sets can lead to so many learning experiences and most importantly plenty of fun!

I would love to know what creature you would love to get (the Frostonians are my favourite), so let me know below.
