I can’t believe that we are about a week away until Christmas! This year seems to have whizzed by and in true Jade form, I’m running around panicked and completely unorganised. (Please say I’m not alone!) Today’s theme got me thinking, how could I share the magic? How can I make things amazing for others?
- Join in your local lantern parade. We are off to ours today, we get together as a community, we sing Christmas carols to the ladies and gentlemen in the care home and really, the feeling of Christmas overwhelms us all. The lantern parade always reminds me how lucky I am to have family and friends around and that I should always make the effort to do more.
- Write a letter. No, I’m not talking about a letter to Santa, I mean a letter to the lady at Tesco or the guy who delivers your post, make them realise how appreciated they are or even go a step further and deliver a little gift. You could leave a box of treats on your doorstep for all the delivery guys saying ‘please take one’ so they’ve got something to keep them going in these cold days.
- Help someone. If you know someone who needs to do something but can’t, can you do it? This could be shopping for a neighbour, fixing an issue on a friends website, baking a Christmas cake for the lady who’s throwing the toddler group party. Give, don’t expect anything in return, just offer to help.
The best way to spread the magic? Smile, Say ‘Merry Christmas’, hold doors open, be polite and just spread cheer wherever you go. Remember we are all overstressed and overworked at this time of the year, a little kindness goes a long way!
