A few weeks ago I met a man at Great Yarmouth train station. I'd seen him before, but we had never spoken, as I listen to his story, I found out he was homeless, this he said was his 5th or 6th year out in the cold. He told me how he knew he would be in the hospital within the next week due to the cold and him constantly being moved on from where he is.

This week again I saw him, we chatted and he told me that he had in fact been in hospital due to the cold and expected to go back in again soon. I'm struggling this year, but I have a home and an amazing family, I opened my purse and gave him the change that I had.

Then as I went to our local Tesco, the food bank was there, so I grabbed a list and bought 1 of everything on there, I left myself skint for the week, but I wanted to help. I wanted to make a difference.

But now I'm sat at home, thinking of others, I think of the man who shook my hand and told me how kind I was as others before me had abused him, the guy at the food bank who stood there in shock that I had brought so much to donate and I thinking of the families in my local communities that I know need help and support, especially at the time of year.

This post isn't a happy upbeat one, it's bloggers choice. My choice is to pass you this simple message. Take your children out, show them those people in the world that we often walk past, talk to them, show them compassion and teach your children kindness.

We can all do better, let's start in our own home.
