Welcome to Oh My Blog! A brand new monthly interview series featuring a
whole host of fellow bloggers. Each month, we’ll be bringing you
different themed posts showcasing the very best bloggers out there.
This month, the questions are based on the fitting February topic of
love!
This
month, we’re meeting Gemma from Life Is Knutts.
- Tell us about yourself and your blog.
Hi! My name is Gemma and I am a mum to 3 boys aged 8, 7 and 2.5. I
live in leafy Surrey and I write a load of random ramble (also known
as a blog) called, Life is Knutts. It's a lighthearted blog (I really
try not to take life too seriously) and my blog is full of amusing
parenting anecdotes, baking and cocktail recipes (I am extremely
partial to a spot of Gin) and write ups about days out/holidays we
have.
- What is your current relationship status?
I am married. Though if my husband keeps leaving his pants on the
bathroom floor for me to pick up, that status may change.
- Do you ever celebrate Valentine's’ Day?
No. I am so boring but I really do think it's another commercialised
marketing scam created to get us to spend more money on shite we
don't need or want. I think it's nice if you're dating maybe or
trying to 'woo' someone (god, I sounded all Shakespearean then didn't
I?!) but I am not a fan myself.
- It’s your first date! Where do you go?
Pizza Express. That is where my now husband took me for the first
time and we split the bill. So romantic.
- What’s the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?
Erm...oh god. Now you're asking. My husband doesn't do romance, or
surprises. He did get me a DVD box set of the Godfather for my 30th
birthday. I know that doesn't sound at all romantic, Italian
gangsters leaving horse heads in people's beds, but we watched the
film on Honeymoon in Iceland when we got snowed in for a day and he
decided to get the DVD for me for my birthday as a memento. Kind of
romantic I guess...
- What is your favourite romantic film? Cheesier the better.
Oh crikey. Another one I'm not sure of because I hardly get to watch
Rom-coms. I would probably go with Bridget Jones's Diary. A great mix
of funny and romance.
- Spill the beans! Who’s your celebrity crush?
Haha! Can I make a list? If I had to pick just one it would be Kit
Harrington from Game of Thrones. I love the guy. Tom Hardy is a VERY
close second. Something about rough and ready men I think *starts
daydreaming*...
- Flowers are pretty popular at this time of year. Do you like receiving them or do they really not float your boat?
I like getting flowers but I do prefer a plant. Something I can keep
(or try to keep) for a bit longer. Orchids and succulents are my
favourites.
- Do you have children? Do you want any (or any more)?
I have 3 little darlings - all boys. They're aged 8, 7 and 2.5. I
love them all dearly but I absolutely don't want anymore. My sanity
couldn't take it.
- What would be (or was) your choice of song for your first dance at your wedding?
A bit of an odd one but we had Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses
as our first dance. We are huge Guns and Roses fans and my husband
plays guitar so we had a friend play Guitar Hero (whilst dressed as
Slash - we had no idea he was going to do that!) on a big screen as
we danced. It was memorable and made everyone laugh. Our friend was
such a good sport.
- Do you have any plans yet for Valentine’s Day 2017?
Nope. It will just be a normal day for us. I shall be zooming the
kids about to school and after school clubs and my husband will get
in from work, wait for his dinner and then fall asleep on the sofa
about 9pm. Who said romance was dead?
- Raw oysters are pretty famous for being an aphrodisiac. Have you ever tried them?
Oh good lord no. I haven't ever had one but the mere thought of
sticking one of those things in my mouth makes me retch. I am not a
huge shellfish fan really apart from prawns and lobster.
- Imagining money's no object, where would you go for a romantic getaway?
Another tough one. I would say Norway. I would love to do a road trip
over there, ending in Tromso which is a wonderful place to see the
Northern Lights. Me and my husband love the outdoors and cold places.
- What’s the best Valentine’s gift you’ve ever received?
Oh crikey. Probably a handmade card from my children saying they love
me. Always one to melt the heart that isn't it.
- Finally, what is the number one most important thing you value in a relationship?
Friendship. I love that after a crappy day with the kids, I am lucky
enough to have a husband come home to us, give me a hug and unload
the burdens of the day onto. I never take it for granted that I have
a loving husband and a happy (mostly) little family. We have our ups
and downs as all families do, but ultimately we all love each other
and that's what life's all about.
