The Christmas Tag
Christmas is my favourite time of year, I'm missing it so much already, the lights, the sounds, the smells and my goodness the tastes! I love to share everything I can about it so I'm over the moon that Sara from Mind Your Mamma tagged me in the Christmas tag. Now I have another reason to post about Christmas.
What's your favourite Christmas movie?
Such a hard question to start off with! I have to give you two. I absolutely love the Christmas shoes for a good adult movie to cry to but for a family movie I love Santa Clause the movie. You can't beat a total classic, to me it is Christmas and is exactly what Santa is and should be.
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Unfortunately not is the answer. I believe the last white Christmas where we live was when my mum was a child. I hold out hope every year and this year I especially can't wait for my children to see the snow, but usually it's either slush or puddles of rain.
Where do you spend your holidays?
Usually we are back in our home town and we visit our parents (the girls grandparents) and see all the family. This year however will be our first Christmas in our family home. I'm cooking the Turkey for the first time, Santa is delivering gifts here that we will get to open on Christmas Day and we get stocking in our beds. It's all very, very exciting.
What's your favourite Christmas song?
This is an easy one. I love Kirsty McCall so of course it has to be her and The Pogues - Fairytale of New York. You scumbag, you maggot... I need this song at my funeral with everyone taking shots too. (50 points if you can guess that film reference).
Do you open any Presents on Christmas Eve?
In short, no. However we do have a Christmas Eve box that gets delivered and we open that. Pjs, Chocolate, movie etc.
Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Pranced, Commit, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen. Of course I recall the most famous reindeer of all. Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. (Sorry, I'll stop singing now!)
Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
I'm really looking forward to our Christmas Eve box and our special Christmas books that me and the girls have had since we were born.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. I would love a real tree, but 2 under 4 and a dog that will all eat anything, tells me that an extreemly bad idea. One day I will have a real one though.
What is your favourite holiday treat/sweet/food?
So many amazing options to chose from. I guess it had to be Christmas pudding. Classic, tasty and perfect with almost every meal. YUM!
Be honest what do you prefer, giving or receiving?
Giving of course. I love to see the look on people's face when they open their gift. I also hate the spotlight being on me, so it's a win-win.
What is the best Christmas present you have ever received?
My goodness, I really don't know the answer to this one. I guess this years? I'm in love with my new iPhone, it allows me to do everything I want and need to (and more). It was so thoughtful of my husband and is truly an amazing gift. To be fair though, he knows me so well he always gets me such amazing thoughtful gifts.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Ahh, I couldn't write that one fast enough. Disney of course. World or land, either is perfect as long as my family is there with me. Those amazing Christmas trees, tasty foods and magnificent decorations. All perfect.
Are you a pro wrapper or do you fail miserably?
Well, 9 times out of 10 I fail miserably. However this year I've finally got the scissor paper slide going down. Add that to my ribbon curling skills and I will be a pro in no time.
Most memorable Christmas moment?
Layout under my mums Christmas tree as a child with my sister. All dark except from the tree lights, we were listening to music and singing 'I'm a fairy in top of the Christmas tree'. I loved that fairy so much and was devistated that she got destroyed in our house fire. I was so excited last year when I managed to track one down.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
The truth? What truth? In all seriousness I don't remember finding out, I just remember asking my mum and her telling me not to spoilt it for my sister. I believe in the whole 'we are Santa' and really hope to help my children become a Santa when they are much older.
What makes the holidays special for you?
The most important part about it all, spending time with my family and watching the ones I love smile and be happy.
