The world Heath organisation says to breastfeed 'until AT LEAST 2 years an beyond' so why is it that although when we are pregnant everyone wants to pressure is and know if we're going to breastfeed, but spas soon as our babies turn 6 months everyone (especially our local health visitors) start talking about stopping/weaning!

There are so many benefits to breastfeeding, I'm not going to go through them, if your feeding, you already know why it's so amazing. Those benefits don't just disappear at 6 months!
I still feed my 2 1/4 year old Kairi (and believe me, with a foot in my face, I don't do it for my benefit!) breastfeeding to Kairi is much more than milk, it's about the love care and support she gets from me. The comfort when she's hurt or upset, the bond she can have with myself and her sister when we tandem. It helps her to feel safe and it's not hurting anyone else!
A month ago, we had our first dentist appointment, Kairi has 'perfect teeth' yet the dentist still felt the need to tell me Kairi was too old to feed!
I will continue to feed both my girls until they self wean, whether that be 3 or 7. It's their choice just like potty training, what they wear and what they play with. I will grow independent ladies and I won't care what others thing!
